What's different about a Moto Guzzi

Transverse air-cooled V-twins with shaft final drive and, on most models, a dry clutch. That combination means no chain maintenance, final-drive oil on the schedule, and less constraint on engine oil choice than a wet-clutch bike — a genuinely different maintenance profile from almost everything else on this site.

Worth checking first

• Shaft final drive oil as a scheduled item in place of chain maintenance.
• Air-cooled running temperatures, which are normally higher than liquid-cooled equivalents.
